Mikel Arteta Named New Arsenal Coaching Staff Ahead of First Match on Boxing Day

Mikel Arteta has named his coaching team at Arsenal, with Freddie Ljungberg confirmed as one of three assistants.

Mikel Arteta was in the stands during Arsenal's last match as they held out for a 0-0 draw against Everton.


Freddie Ljungberg, who took interim charge of the team for six matches, remains as an assistant coach alongside Albert Stuivenberg and Steve Round.

Albert Stuivenberg previously worked with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

Steve Round, who was part of David Moyes' backroom staff at Everton and Manchester United.

Steve Round has also worked in the England coaching set-up and held a role as director of football at Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta has also appointed a new goalkeeping coach, Iñaki Caña Pavón.

Mikel Arteta said: "I am delighted to have this talented group of coaches alongside me. They bring a great mix of experience and fresh thinking.

"Along with the talented people we have in the club already they will be key people to get us back to winning ways."
