Football Forces Iron Maiden’s Sold Out L.A. Show to Change Its Date
If there’s one thing you don’t get in the way of here in the States, it’s American football. It’s so important that even the great Iron Maiden‘s had to change a show’s date to accommodate some college football.
Thanks to a rule that bans simultaneous events from taking place at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, the Iron Maiden show at BMO Stadium planned for Saturday, September 26 will now take place a day later on Sunday, September 27. Not much of a big change if you ask me, but if you could only get that Saturday off with a babysitter or something to that effect, you’re kinda boned.
The move was necessary because the USC Trojans are scheduled to take on the Oregon Ducks at Memorial Coliseum, which is pretty close in proximity to BMO Stadium. Concert promoter Live Nation explained what happened:
“This is an unprecedented circumstance and is unfortunately entirely outside of either our or the band’s control. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding as we comply with venue and city regulations.”
Iron Maiden manager Ron Smallwood added that the band was caught off guard when the change had o be made but were willing to do it to make sure the show went on.
“We were completely shocked when we were told about this unique situation affecting our sold-out L.A. show on Saturday night. We have worked with the team at Live Nation, and rather than cancelling this second show, we were thankfully able to move the show to the following night, Sunday, September 27.
“We are naturally mortified at the issues and inconvenience raised for our fans who hold tickets, but there is sadly nothing we can do other than move the show a day later.”
The Friday show at BMO Stadium is unaffected by this change. All tickets for the original Saturday show will be honored at the rescheduled Sunday show. so hold onto those so you can still catch Maiden.
