“I Can’t Find Any Faults”: Why Joe Rogan Did A 180 On Jesus & The Christian Church

Joe Rogan has apparently discovered the benefits of believing in something bigger than yourself.

If you’ve been a fan of Joe Rogan for a while now, you know that for the longest time, the podcast host and UFC commentator has been downright opposed to religion, including Christianity. He often mocked Christians in his comedy routines and podcasts, considering followers of Christ to be dumb and uninformed. There was even a time when Joe Rogan called the New Testament of the Bible “utter horse s**t,” and claimed that it was written by Roman emperor Constantine (objectively untrue by the way).

You can actually view that clip below:

Needless to say, Joe Rogan has come a long way from that way of thinking.

In a recent conversation with Andrew Wilson on The Joe Rogan Experience, he and the conservative commentator got to talking about the teachings of Jesus Christ and the sense of community that a church can provide. He also called them the kindest, nicest, most compassionate people he’s ever met. And the basis for this opinion… Rogan’s own church attendance:

“One of the things I try to point out to people who go, ‘Why do you go to church?’ Like because when I was younger, I was very cynical about religion, and then I’ve got older. One of the things that I always say is if there was a pill that could make you as nice as the people that I go to church with, everybody would be on it. They are the nicest people you will ever encounter…  they’re like very friendly, happy people.”

One of the big things that Rogan preached was how going to church can shift a person’s focus from themselves to others:

“They think about everybody as a part of a community, and a collective community that you care about and has value. They are the kindest people that you are ever going to come across. And I think there’s a lot of value in that. I think the people that are cynical about that – because they don’t want to believe in fairy tales or they don’t want to be stupid – there’s a foundation to that.”

That’s a big step for someone that probably used to identify as an atheist.

And Joe Rogan didn’t stop there. He went on to say that, if you just look at the teachings of Jesus Christ, there’s really nothing that can be argued against. There’s no condemnation, as many people believe. It’s actually based upon compassion, and being kind to others:

“If you just get to the teachings of Christ, I can’t find any faults in it. It’s all about being kind. It’s all about this idea that we’re all in this together and that you are supposed to lift each other up and look after each other. There’s no faults in it…

It’s a framework for living your life, and there are a lot of people that reject that. They think of themselves as intelligent and well-read and educated and think they are too smart for it.”

That’s probably not what you thought was being talked about on The Joe Rogan Experience, right? I wouldn’t necessarily call it a “road to Damascus” type of moment, but quite the 180 from his previous position, openly mocking God and the Bible. We have Jelly Roll preaching the Gospel on a Netflix talent show, the most popular podcast host in the world is openly speaking about the benefits of going to church and following Jesus… it feels like we could be on the cusp of a revival in America right now.

For those that are concerned that Rogan is “getting soft” or “losing his fastball,” the podcast host quickly got back into his prime form and concluded his thoughts on believing and/or not-believing with this:

“Any atheist needs to take 8 grams of mushrooms. Do a little DMT and they’ll say, ‘Oh, I don’t know anything.'”

Yea… that’s more like the Joe Rogan we’ve come to know over the years.
