Garth Brooks Reveals Why He Was Content To Never Perform Again After 2022 Ireland Concerts

Garth could have walked away from music a couple of years ago if he really wanted to.

In case you didn’t know, Garth Brooks mainly breaks news about himself or anything that he’s doing through his official website – garthbrooks.com. The country music star evidently likes to control the narrative, and Brooks has been doing that through posts on the “News” tab of his personal website.

The latest story shared through the site focused in on the connection that the country music superstar has with Ireland. In a quote that was included in the “Nashville to Belfast” piece, Brooks admitted that he’s not sure how the strong, Irish connection came to be… but he embraces it:

“I’ve never understood what it is about Ireland. But their love for Garth music stuns me every time.”

Always talking in the third person… you know that’s a real quote from the “Callin’ Baton Rouge” singer because he said “Garth music” instead of “my music.”

The story went on to explore the time in 2014 when Brooks decided to play Dublin’s Croke Park for five nights, and over 400,000 tickers were sold almost instantly. Unfortunately, the Dublin City Council ended up approving permits for only three of the five shows, and Garth decided to cancel the trip altogether to be fair to all of his fans.

Brooks said having to call off those Ireland shows was like “a death in the family.”

But the story didn’t end there. Instead of Irish fans giving up on seeing Garth in their home country, they responded to the canceled shows by traveling to wherever Brooks was playing in the world and waiving Ireland flags. The country star says he was overwhelmed that the Irish fans traveled to him:

“They traveled to send me a message. So, imagine how good it was when you got to travel to see them.”

It was in 2022 when Garth Brooks got back over to Ireland and got everything in order for the five Dublin shows. This time around, all of the concerts were approved, and Brooks once again sold 400,000 plus tickets. The country star was grateful that his fans hadn’t given up on him, and described the Irish Garth Brooks fans as “family” in The Anthology, Part VI: The Comeback, The Next Five Years.

He also revealed in the anthology that he could have walked away from music altogether after playing those shows in Ireland and making things right with his Irish fans:

“If I never played music again after Ireland, would it have been enough for me? Yes.”

Very interesting to hear Garth confess that.

So is he done with music? No, he most certainly is not. But he could’ve retired a happy man after that run of shows across the pond. Granted, it’s been quite some time since Garth has toured across the country. The soon to be 64-year-old country star last brought his music to the masses with his Stadium Tour, which played its final show in the fall of 2022. Garth’s Las Vegas residency – Garth Brooks/Plus ONE – followed after that, but even that wrapped in July of 2024.

However, it sounds like Brooks is ramping up for some sort of tour that will take place later in 2026.
