Ansu Fati was left out for tactical reasons, while Irish striker Evan Ferguson—who is rumored to have been watched by Arsenal—was prominently absent from Brighton's lineup to face Brentford. De Zerbi later acknowledged that he was not in the "right condition" to play in the Premier League.

De Zerbi, who is also without Solly March (knee), Kaoru Mitoma (back), Billy Gilmour (knee), and Jack Hinshelwood (ankle), has now ruled out Ferguson and Adam Webster. James Milner is currently recovering from a thigh issue.

Arsenal Team News
Speaking of young forwards missing midweek games, Arsenal's top scorer Bukayo Saka was left off of the team announcement on Wednesday. The 22-year-old pulled out of the Man City draw due to exhaustion, despite having trained earlier in the week and being cleared to play against Luton.

He was denied the chance due to a late flare-up, but Arteta is crossing his hopes that Saka can recover quickly and be back on Saturday, which means Jurrien Timber, who is nearing a return from an ACL injury, will be sidelined due to injury.

Arteta also shuffled his lineup in midweek, praising Emile Smith Rowe's quality after the little seen Englishman was instrumental in both goals. However, he will almost certainly lose his place to a rested Declan Rice.

Arteta: We'll make a late decision on Saka
Ahead of Saturday's match against Brighton, Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will decide late on Bukayo Saka.

Saka is doubtful for the Gunners' trip to the south coast because of a hamstring ailment that has been bothering him.

Though he is hopeful he will travel, Arteta will hold off on selecting the England international for his matchday team until Friday's practise.

Arteta stated that all of his other players are prepared to participate.
