Hundreds Show Up To Audition For Luke Combs & Druski In Nashville

Way more prestigious than American Idol.

Hundreds braved the ice and cold in Nashville today to “audition” for country superstar Luke Combs and comedian Druski today in Nashville.

Audition for what? I’m so glad you asked.

If you’re not familiar with Druski, he’s the comedian behind hilarious skits like the one he released a few weeks ago mocking megachurch pastors, and his hilarious sketch going undercover as a white man at a NASCAR race. (Druski is, of course, not white).

He’s quickly become one of my favorite comedians, and one of my favorite recurring sketches that he does is his “Coulda Been Records.”

Druski, whose real name is Drew Desbordes, started holding auditions for a legitimate talent show back in 2019. But as he put it, things didn’t go so well:

“It turned out to be sh-t.”

So Druski pivoted, and instead turned it into a satire record label called “Coulda Been Records.” He then began holding auditions for people who he said “had heart, but sucked,” and turned those auditions into hilarious sketches.

The sketches feature Druski as the record label exec, judging talent ranging from dancers and actors to singers and rappers. And in his Simon Cowell-esqe role, Druski doesn’t hold back when evaluating the talent that comes through the doors.

Of course the whole thing is a somewhat satirical take on the major record labels and reality singing competitions, but along the way, “Coulda Been Records” has turned from satire into a massive platform that’s launched careers when actual talent comes in front of him. Obviously the exposure in being featured by Druski is enormous, and he’s even parlayed the success of Coulda Been Records into other “Coulda Been” brands, like a Coulda Been Love reality dating series.

His videos often feature celebrity guest judges, like Timothée Chalamet, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and comedian Kevin Hart.

It appears that his newest video, though, will feature country music superstar Luke Combs.

Luke and Druski announced yesterday that they would be holding auditions for “Coulda Been Nashville” this afternoon:

And from the looks of it, they had plenty of people turn out despite the freezing cold weather and icy conditions from this past weekend’s storm.

Insane. I can’t wait to see that video.

Of course it won’t be the first time Druski and Luke have teamed up together. A couple years ago, Luke took Druski fishing and…well, I’m not sure how well it went, but it was pure gold nonetheless.

We’ll have to see if they had any better luck at their auditions today. I have a feeling there are plenty of artists in Nashville hoping for their big break, even if it’s with “Coulda Been Records.”
